On December 18th 2019, parents, children and teachers gathered in Yerbury playground to protest against Ocado’s plans to build a huge distribution depot over the wall from the school playground. It was the birth of what would become the Nocado campaign.
On December 17th 2021, children, parents and teachers gathered again in the school playground to mark the two year anniversary of the fight as Islington Council’s decision looms on whether to grant Ocado a completely unrestricted 24/7 use of the site.
Children held presents they do not want from Ocado and chanted ‘Ocado leave our school alone’ in an echo of their protest outside the High Court in June this year.
Islington Council is due to rule on Ocado’s latest development submission on January 14th. Read more about it in this blog
